DEATH OF BOER
WAR VETERAN
A veteran of the Boer War, Mr. A. E. M. Battye, died in the Cowra hospital recently at the age of 84 years. The late Mr. Battye joined the army with his father, the late Mr. Arthur Battye, and his brother, the late Mr. Reg. Battye.
He was promoted on the field to the rank of Lieutenant for outstanding service, by the late General Lord Roberts. He was a crack pigeon shot in his youth. The late Mr. Battye was born in Forbes but for he last 50 years has lived at Wattamondara.
