John Nelson Tarplee Booker was born on 23 Feb 1885 in the Barcaldine district, a son to Joseph William Booker and Emma Booker (nee Fox). He married Florence Amelia McKean on 14 Aug 1907 in Queensland and they had 3 children.
He returned to Aramac after his discharge from the 5th QIB in 1902. He carried on a business as a Motor Lorry Carrier in nearby Longreach which he ceased in 1926. Some time after he relocated to Rockhampton where he worked as a shop assistant.
