When Michael John Brennan enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as R. Brennan, Emu Vale, Warwick.

Michael John Brennan was born on 1 Oct 1878 in Queensland, a son to John Brennan and Bridget Brennan (nee Long). He married Maud Theresa White on 21 Jan 1908 in Queensland and they had 3 children while residing at Emu Vale where he worked the family farm- Brennan Farm.
