Death of Boer
War Veteran
TOOGOOLAWAH, Apr. 13.
In the death of John Morrison Bridge in his 87th year at Smith & Harding's residence, Ivorys' Creek, on Friday morning, another of the few remaining Boer War veterans has gone. At the funeral service at St Andrew's Church of England on Saturday the casket was draped with the Union Jack. The late Mr. Bridge came to this district 25 years ago, and since then he had been employed by the Harding family, mostly at droving. Born at Muswellbrook, N.S.W., he was the eldest of a family of 15. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Bridge, of Gosford. He is survived by a daughter Mrs. T. Iverli (Lismore) and eight grandchildren.
