Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When William Buchester enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as A. Buchester Toowoomba.

A biography was placed on the Australian Boer War Memorial database for him based on information provided by his great neice. In that bio he is named as William Andrew Buchester born 2 Feb 1871 in Queensland, and died 20 Aug 1954 interred at Lutwyche Cemetery. That being the case, his birth and death were recorded under then name Andrew Buchheister born 2 Feb 1871, a son to Andrew Buchheister and Mary Buchheister (nee Ford).
