Corporal John Aiton Bullock (Service No:57) served with the 2nd WA Mounted Infantry in the Boer War. He embarked from Fremantle for Cape Town on board the transport Surrey on 3 February 1900, and embarked from Cape Town for Fremantle on 7 November 1900 on board the Wooloomooloo. According to his Obituary (Swan Leader; 23 August 1935) '... at the end of the War (John) was sent to England as a member of a specially selected guard to receive the colours for his unit at the late King Edward's Coronation'. 

Born in 1867 in Glasgow Scotland, John was the youngest of four children of Robert Bulloch (b1841 in Stirlingshire, Scotland) and Agnes Annabella Smith (b1844 in Glasgow, Scotland). Robert (a Mercantile Clerk) and Agnes married in 1863 in Glasgow, Scotland where they settled and raised their family. Following Agnes' death, Robert moved his family to London and in 1881 was working as a Chemical Broker.

John was a Clerk in 1887 when he immigrated with his brother Robert, arriving in Sydney NSW on board the Ormuz. In 1895 John was appointed to the Wilberforce (NW Sydney) Board of Control of Labour Settlement and in 1897 moved to Claremont, Fremantle, WA. In  1901, following his return from the Boer War, at Croydon NSW, John married Emily Debus (b1874 in Redfern, NSW). John and Emily settled at Claremont in Fremantle WA where John was an Estate Agent, Newsagent, owner of a Wood Yard and a Produce Merchant. John was the Vice President and Fundation Member of the South African and Imperial Veteran's Association. John died in 1935 in South Perth WA and zemily died in 1953.
