Boer War & WW1
Enlisted with the 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles to be sent to the Boer War. Boarded the troop ship Mar 1901 and disembarked Port Elizabeth, sent on by train to Pretoria. The Australian Units proved their worth fighting with the British forces against the Board, many soldiers were decorated even one was awarded the Victoria Cross. Charles returned to Australia proudly wearing the Queens South African medal with 5 bars. He was discharged, and returned to normal life as a carpenter at Frankston. He later enlisted for duty in WW1
