D. D. CADE joined A.A.M.C. on 22nd March 1915 and embarked as Captain attached to Hospital Ship " Kanowna " on 17th July 1915. He
arrived at Anzac at beginning of November, and was appointed R.M.O. to 1st Battalion. After leaving Anzac at Evacuation in December he returned to Egypt, was promoted to Major on 25th February 1916 and transferred to 13th Field Ambulance. He arrived in France in June, 1916 and took part in the actions at Fleurbaix,
Pozieres, Mouquet Farm and Flers in 1916, and Bullecourt and Messines in 1917. He was Mentioned in Despatches of 7th November 1917 in "London Gazette" of 28/12/17, and on 17th December was transferred to 3rd Field Ambulance in command, with temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. On 1st January 1918 he was awarded
D.S.O., and on 2nd May 1918 he was confirmed in his promotion to Lieutenant-Colonel. He took part in the operations of 1st Division in France, in 1918 up till Armistice. He returned to Australia in March and his appointment was terminated on 11th May 1919.

He married Ellen EDWARDS in Bendigo in 1908
David served in the Boer War, World War 1 and World War 2
He died in North Balwyn, Victoria on 27th July, 1954 & is buried in the Yan Yean Cemetery
