John (Jack) Campbell:
Born at Edinburgh Castle on 24/6/76.
Died: 20/1/24.
Served in the Boer War in the 1st and 6th WA Mounted Infantry contingents as an Officer.
He was Officer Commanding the 6th WA Contingent. He was Mentioned in Despatches after being involved in the same action assisting Lieutenant Bell in the rescue of a stranded soldier under fire. Bell was awarded the VC.
Jack remained in the Military until 1905.
He rejoined the Defence force in WW1 and was 2IC Blackboy Hill Camp, then Commandant of Geraldton and Rockingham camps.
He died in a vehicle accident on 20 Jan 1924 at Mogumber, north of Perth, just before his father passed away.
He is buried just along from his parent plot with his wife Grace. They had one girl.
