James McLelland CAVAYE was born on 21st October, 1857 in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland

His parents were Robert Bell McLelland CAVAYE & his 2nd wife Margaret BOYD who married on 7th July, 1857 in Leith

He married Elizabeth Louisa WINCHESTER on 11th January, 1878 at 6 Clifton Place, Glasgow, Scotland & had 8 known children

James died in Brisbane, Queensland on 20th June 1917 & is buried in Toowong Cemetery
