29 Sep 1900: Wounded Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 210, 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, AWM Boer War Nominal Roll, Murray p. 483 notes wounded and taken prisoner at Doornlaagte 29 Sep 1900 and later escaped at Krugersdorp.
23 Jan 1901: Discharged Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 210, 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, National Archives Australia- Boer War Dossier notes invalided due to gunshot wound returned to Australia aboard Orient arriving Brisbane 16 Jan 1901, discharged 23 Jan 1901.

Edward Christian Cook served twice in the South African (Boer) War. First service was as a Private S.N. 210 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen during which he was wounded and returned to Australia. Second service was as a Private S.N. 652 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
