His older brother, Arthur Brownlow Corbett, also served in the 5th QIB S.N. 366.
When Cuthbert Brownlow Corbett enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother, Cordelia St., South Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 3 p. 34, it is noted he directed part of his pay to a joint account held with Susan Corbett, and that his address was c/- his mother Mrs. Ellen M. Corbett, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane.
He was born Edward Cuthbert Brownlow Corbett (also known as Cuthbert Brownlow Corbett, Edward Brownlow Corbett and Edward Bernard Corbett) in 1880 at Sussex, England, a son to George Frederick Corbett and Ellen Mary Corbett (nee Kerr) also known as Susan Ellen Corbett. He emigrated with his parents in 1890 to Brisbane, Queensland.
As Cuthbert Brownlow Corbett he returned from Sydney where he was living to marry Ida Patricia Healy on 12 Apr 1909 at St Stephen's Cathedral, Brisbane. After marrying they left Brisbane the same day to travel to their new home in Sydney. They had 4 children, the first born in NSW in 1910, and the remainder between 1912 and 1917 after they had relocated to Melbourne. At some point they again relocated back to Sydney where he passed in 1963 under the name Edward Brownlow Corbett.
