Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

His brother John William Cordingley (S.N. 1887 3rd Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse) also served in the South African (Boer) War.

When Frank Cordingley enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father J. C. Cordingley, Park Ridge. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 1 p. 57, it is noted part of his pay was directed to a joint account held with Ann Cordingley.

Frank Cordingley was born on 8 Jan 1882 at Bradford, Yorkshire, England, a son to Joseph Cordingley and Ann Cordingley (nee Brown). After his discharge from the 5th QIB he made his way to Western Australia where he was residing in 1903.

He married Lavinia Jane Claridge in 1916 at Leederville, W.A., and they had 3 children. When the notice for the birth of their first child in 1917 was published in the West Australian, 20 Dec 1917, it contained a request for Queensland papers to copy. They resided in the Pilbara region, including at Nullagine, where he was a storekeeper and grocer.
