Distinguished Conduct Medal

'On the 25 September, 1918, at Semakh, when the attack was made on this town, he was with a troop that was detailed to escort machine guns. After the charge through the enemy's position, this non-commissioned officer, with eight men galloped to a small trench, and before the enemy could reorganize, captured this trench, with one machine gun and forty seven prisoners.'
