Boer War Veteran Passes
The RSL flag flew at half mast yesterday as a final tribute to Mr. A. Coutts, a Boer War veteran. Pallbearers at his funeral yesterday were Messrs. G. E. McDonald, P. T. R. Malseed, H. Buchanan and J. Boardman. Many members of the RSL and A. and H. Society were at the graveside service as well as friends, relatives and business acquaintances. Rev. W. L. Collins conducted the service following which the Secretary of the Mount Gambier RSL (Mr. E. Messer) recited the Creed, and dropped a poppy, the symbol of sacrifice, into the grave. Two of the remaining eight Boer War veterans—Messrs P. H. Dunn and R. F. White—attended the graveside service.
