Charles Alexander Cumming was born in Queensland (Mackay) on 27 Jun 1872 a son to Andrew Cumming and Lydia Ann Cumming (nee Rowan). After he returned from the South African (Boer) War he returned to live in Mackay marrying Mabel Annie Stayte on 20 Jun 1904. He ran his own business C A Cumming- Watchmaker, Jewler and Optometrist in Victoria St, Mackay.
