Served in the Boer war under the name Henry Davis, also served in WW1 under the name Henry E. Davis, Private S.N. 3504, 7th Field Ambulance, AIF.
When Henry Davis enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. Lindsay, Crown St, Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Pybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 148, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. B. Lindsay, Crown St, Petrie Terrace, Brisbane.
He enlisted again in 1915 (under the name Henry E. Davis) for WW1 and on his Attestation Paper, dated 26 Feb 1915, it is noted that; he was born at Brisbane and was 34 years 3 months of age; he was single working as a labourer; his N.O.K. was his mother Mrs. James Lindsay, Crown St, Petrie Terrace, Brisbane; and he had previously served in South Africa.
Henry Davis (also known as Henry Edward Davis) was born on 18 Dec 1875 at Brisbane, a son to Edward Davis and Bridget Davis (nee Hurley). His mother Bridget Hurley was twice married, first to his father Edward Davis in 1864 and second to James Lindsay in 1909.
