15/2/1916      Enlisted in Adelaide, South Australia

29/2/1916      Commanding Officer appointed John to Light Horse, 2nd Depot Battalion,
                     Mitcham Camp

13/7/1916      Embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide on board HMAT Seang Bee A48
                     as a Private in the 48th Infantry Battalion, 3rd reinforcements

10/9/1916      taken on strength of 12th Training Battalion

20/11/1916    proceeded overseas on SS Victoria, ex Folkestone, England, for France

4/12/1916      taken on strength 48th Battalion, from reinforcements

17/3/1917      promoted to Corporal
