A DROVER'S DEATH
Sequel to Drinking Bout
ROCKHAMPTON, Thursday.
Startling evidence was given yesterday at the inquiry into the death of a drover named Henry Ernest King, which occurred in December. It was stated that on November 20 three drovers, Frank Norris, Robert Thomas, and King came to Turoom, on the Dawson River, on their way to Banana. They had a heavy drinking bout at Taroom. There were frequent fights, and the police were called upon to intervene in one of the quarrels between Morris and King. King said that the other man had struck him with a stick. King later complained of pains in the head, and Thomas and Morris did everything possible for him. King eventually arrived at Rockhampton on November 26. An operation was performed, but King died.
