Francis Edgar Eales was born on 10 May 1879 at Maryborough, Queensland, a son to George Eales and Mary Ann Eales (nee Thompson). He married Mary Taylor on 30 Apr 1907 in Queensland and they had six children.
The married couple initially resided in the Childers-Booyal district before relocating to the Kinbombi district where Francis worked in the timber industry.
