Served twice in the South African (Boer) War; Private S.N. 254, 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen; and Private S.N. 382, 7th Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse.
When Edward Eames enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. Eames, Gatton. When he enlisted again in 1902 in the 7th BACH he noted on his Attestation Paper dated 4 May 1902 that; he was born at Gatton and was 22 years of age; he was single and a butcher living at Gatton; his N.O.K. was his mother Mrs. Eames, Gatton; and he had previously served in the 5th QIB.
Edward Eames was born on 2 Apr 1881 at Gatton, a son to Thomas Eames and Caroline Eames (nee Lee).
