Thomas Easlea appears to have served twice in the South African (Boer) War and enlisted, but never embarked, for WW1. His first service was as a Private S.N. 232 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry and second service as a Private S.N. 631 in the Queensland Imperial Bushmen. On his enlistment, newspaper articles note he was single and his NOK was Henry Easlea at Upper North Pine near Brisbane, a noted pioneer of the area. Newspaper article from May 1902 indicates he remained in South Africa for further service when the rest of the 6th QIB returned to Australia, no date is known for his return and discharge.
He enlisted on 24 August 1914 in Townsville for service in WW1 as a Private S.N. 523 in the 9th Infantry Battalion AIF. At the time of his enlistment he noted on his Attestation Paper that he was single, permanently residing in Cairns Qld, was born on 14 Nov. 1880 in Tenterfield NSW and his NOK was his father Henry at Upper North Pine. It appears he never embarked for service with his records indicating he was discharged less than a month after enlisting under Special Authority on 5 Sep 1914. He passed away on 8 Jul 1959 in Cairns Qld.
