When David Renfrew Edwards enlisted in 1901 in th 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. E. Edwards, Wallsend, New South Wales.

David Renfrew Edwards was born in 1882 at Wallsend, New South Wales, a son to Edward and Janet Edwards.
