Death Of Boer
War Veteran
A Boer War veteran who left Tasmania in 1899 with the first group of Col. Cameron's Light Horse, died in Launceston yesterday after a short illness. He was Mr. John Edwards (73), who at one time conducted the Imperial Hotel at Cygnet, and the old Steam Hammer Hotel, at Hobart. Mr. Edwards belonged to the Boer War Veterans' Association, but had not taken an active part for some years. His wife died some years ago. After his retirement he travelled extensively. He is survived by four daughters and three sons. The funeral will be held today.
