When Jonathon Thomas Winter Flower enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as J. H. Flower, Solicitor, Adelaide St, Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 84, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his cousin Mr. J. H. Flower, Solicitor (Flower & Hart), Adelaide St, Brisbane.

Jonathon Thomas Winter Flower was born in 1871 in Victoria, a son to John William Crickmore Flower Master Mariner and Margaret Mary Flower (nee Kyle). When he passed in 1921 at Moss Vale, NSW, his death notice in The Sydney Morning Herald noted he was married to Maud Elizabeth Flower.
