Private Norman Lewis Frost (Service No:161) served with the 2nd Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen in Cape Colony under General French. Private Frost embarked from Hobart for Port Elisabeth on the transport Chicago on 27 March 1901 and embarked from Durban for Tasmania on board the transport Manila on 22 May 1902. The Contingent was Disbanded on 30 June 1902. 

The second of four children, Norman was born in 1881 at Carrick in Tasmania to Alfred Arthur Frost (b1847 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Mary Ann Sherwood(b1843 in Middlesex, England). Mary Ann was a Domestic Servant in Surrey, England before arriving in Tasmania. Arthur (a Carpenter) and Mary Ann married in Launceston in 1878 and settled in Westbury where Arthur was a Carpenter and Labourer.

Norman worked as a Cycle Mechanic in Ulverstone following his return from the Boer War, and in 1907 in Devonport, Tasmania he married Elizabeth Heazlewood (b1882 in Ulverstone, Tasmania). Norman and Elizabeth settled in Ulverstone where they raised their family and Norman worked as a Cycle Mechanic/Engineer. He served with the ACMF (Sergeant; Service No:T29646) with 4 Battalion VDC. Elizabeth died in 1953 and Norman in 1955.
