Thomas Alexander Graham appears to have served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private S.N. 78 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, and second as a Private S.N. 815 in the 1st Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse (source AWM Boer War Nominal Roll, Murray p. 481 and 524).
