Ted Hanson was my Grandfather. He was my Mums father. He died in 1950 but I never met him. I know a lot about him and am writing a family history.

He served in the 2nd Qld Mounted infantry at the Boer War from 1899 - 1901. In 1916 and 1917 he was on the Qld Anticonscription committee.

He was a Plumbers Union Secretary and organiser, (PGEUA - QLD Branch)  from 1912 to 1924. In 1924 he was elected to the Qld Parliament. He was the Member for Buranda for the Labor Party. In 1932 he was elected as Chairman of Committees and in 1939 he was elected as Speaker of the Parliament. He served as Speaker until 1944. In 1945 he resigned as a MLA. He was then aged 67 years. He died in 1950 aged 72 years. Ted and his wife Lizzie had 8 children. 4 boys and 4 girls. His daughter Grace Clarke served in the AAMWS during WW2.
