When Albert Joseph Hind enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father J. Hind, Ringwood, Victoria. In the original Nominal Roll for the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, it is noted his N.O.K. was his father Joseph Hind, Ringwood, Victoria. The Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 2 p. 170, notes his father's address later changed to Richmond, Victoria.
Albert Joseph Hind was born in 1876 in Victoria, a son to Joseph Henry Hind and Annie Elizabeth Hind (nee Claridge). He married Annie Brown in 1904 in Victoria.
