Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Minchen (Minchin) James Hobart enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father M. W. Hobart, William St, Toowoomba. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 3 p. 83, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. A. Hobart, William St, Toowoomba.
Minchen (Minchin) James Hobart was born on 27 Dec 1875 in Queensland, a son to William Minchin Hobart and Annie Hobart (nee Perry). He married Fanny Blanchard on 11 Feb 1908 in Queensland and they had 2 children. They resided in the Kilcoy area where Minchin was a grazier.
