Joined the 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry see action in South Africa. Murray Remarks: Prisoner of war at Swartz Kopjes 13/02/1901; released, rejoined 16/02/1901. Vide 'Promotions'. Discharged from the 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry on 17 May 1901 he then joined the 7th Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse on 29/04/1902.
