William Henry Wilson
William Henry Wilson is my grandfather. He was born in Yass NSW in 1898. He enlisted like most men of his era in the AIF when he was 18. He enlisted at Goulburn NSW and was placed into the 56th Battalion and was seriously wounded at the Battle of Polygon Wood in 1917. He recovered from his injuries and continued to serve on the front as an Ambulance driver until the end of the war. He returned to Australia in 1919 and lived at Yass until his death in 1968. He is buried at Yass cemetery.
