Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Charles Edward Withorne Hyde was born in 1863 at Warialda in New South Wales, a son to William Robert Hyde (b. Qld) and Susannah Hyde (nee Miller) (b. Warialda NSW). It is unclear when he took up residence in Qld, however, he married Janet Scott on 2 Sept 1891 in Qld and was living at Southport Qld when he embarked for the Boer War. They would go on to have 6 children, Janet passing away in 1956.
