John Peter Johnson was born Jens Peter Jensen in 1850 at Copenhagen, Denmark, a son to Jens Nestholt Jensen and Ellen Marie Jensen (nee Sorensen). Its unclear when he came to Queensland but he married Marie Swensena Antoinette Throndsen on 10 October 1877 in Queensland and post the Boer War resided in the Gladstone area.
