When Albert Leura Justins enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. Justins, Melbourne St, South Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 3 p. 120, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. J. Justins, Melbourne St, South Brisbane.

Albert Leura Justins was born on 5 Apr 1882 aboard the ship SS Leura enroute to or anchored off Sydney, New South Wales, a son to George Justins and Jane Wright Justins (nee Ward). He married Agnes Isabella McGregor on 25 Jul 1906 at South Brisbane and they had 3 children. They lived at Yeerongpilly in Brisbane with Albert working as a fruit merchant, in partnership, at the Brisbane Fruit and Produce Exchange Markets, in Turbot St, Brisbane.
