When Thomas Kennedy enlsited in 1899 in the 1st QMI and his details were published with the rank and file in The Brisbane Courier, 18 Nov 1899, he was recorded as Private T. Kennedy, single, Allora. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 1st QMI, Bk 1 p. 57, it notes he directed part of his pay to Mrs. J. C. Kennedy (his mother), "The Farm", Allora. He was invalided from service with the 1st QMI returning to Brisbane where he was discharged on 15 Dec 1900.
Thomas Kennedy was born on 18 Jul 1880 at Leyburn, Qld, a son to James Cummins Kennedy and Annie Christina Campbell Kennedy (nee Frossberg). Following his return from the war he was residing in the Allora district until about 1909 when newspaper reports indicate, it appears, he briefly relocated to New Zealand before making a permanent move to Buenos Ayres (Aires), Argentina.
