Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Christian Kruck enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father C. Kruck, Manly, Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 3 p. 26, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. E. Kruck, Manly.
Christian Reuben Kruck was born on 24 Feb 1882 in Queensland, a son to Charles Dudrich Nicolaus Kruck and Helen Smith Kruck (nee Matthie). After returning from the war in 1902 he would spend time in Queensland and a major part of his life in New Zealand.
He would marry Jessie Bain Brown in 1905 in New Zealand and their first two children were born in New Zealand in 1906 and 1911. They had three further children born in Queensland in 1912, 1914 and 1919. All of the family were residing in New Zealand when they passed, except for a son who died at the age of 7 days in Queensland.
