George William James Lake was born on 23 Nov 1882 at Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, a son to William Lake and Charlotte Louisa Lake (nee Allen). He was twice married, first to Lucy Constance May Sturgess on 27 Jan 1904 in Queensland and they had 6 children, second to Sarah Smith Adams on 23 Nov 1918 in Queensland and had a further 4 children.
