Alfred Harold Ison was known as Hal.
Hal was one of 16 children and was the last Ison family member to see his younger brother Jack Ison alive as the brother's met in France on the western front.
Hal was wounded at 2nd Bullecourt 3rd May 1917.
Hal was devastated by the war time of loss of his chums Rob Tibbs (at Pozieres), Colin Houston (early on at 2nd Bullecourt) and Norman Knight, as well as his brother John Bathurst.
Hal's name is listed as A Ison on the Blayney Memorial gates since he was a teacher there before leaving for active service.
