"Seekamp volunteered for the Boer War in South Africa. He enlisted in the 5th. Victorian Mounted Rifles (V.M.R.) on 15 January 1901.
His surname in some records is Leekamp, perhaps a spelling mistake or an attempt to lessen the Dutch/Boer sounding name?
The Age Jan 24 1901 p11, published a list of men training with the Fifth Contingent at Langwarrin, amongst them is Seekamp. F. H., farmer, Pascoe Vale.
He was a Private (No.1041) and was awarded the Queens South African Medal.
