Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When William James Little enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father J. Little, Mount Barker, South Australia.
Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB notes he was promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant 2 days before the contingent embarked for South Africa and was further promoted in South Africa to Lieutenant on 2 Dec 1901, following death of Lt Caskey on 25 Sep 1901. Newspaper reports in May 1902 note he remained in South Africa for further service when the remainder of the 5th QIB returned to Australia.
