Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

It appears that John Christopher Logan was incorrectly recorded on Boer War Nominal Roll. The Queenslander newspaper, 16 Mar 1901, p. 516, report of rank and file for 5th Qld Imperial Bushmen with photographs also records him under this name noting his N.O.K. being his father, J. Logan of Stanthorpe.

State Archives Qld- Boer War Service Paybook for 5th QIB records him as Christopher Logan with father J. Logan at Stanthorpe. Newspaper report in The Brisbane Courier, 16 May 1902, p. 8, on the return of the 5th QIB notes that S.N. 115 Private Christopher John Logan remained in hospital when the 5th departed for Australia in May 1902. The service paybook notes he later returned to Australia aboard Aurania arriving in Brisbane on 5 Jun 1902.

Christopher John Logan married Catherine Jane McCrann on 23 Feb 1903 in Queensland and they had 9 children. He passed away in 1924 in Cairns and an obituary in The Nothern Herald newspaper, 22 Oct 1924, p. 4, notes he was... a native of Stanthorpe, but came to Cairns many years ago. He was last living at Kaban (Atherton Tablelands) working as a Teamster and leaves a wife and large family. The BDM Qld online death register notes his parents as James Logan and Mary Logan (nee Gates).
