Charles Luxton was born on 22 May 1877 at Brisbane, Queensland, a son to Charles Luxton and Laura Mary Luxton (nee Arthy). In 1916 when he enlisted a second time for WW1 he was living with his wife Elizabeth on Ipswich Road, Brisbane and they had two children.
He served in both the South African (Boer) War and WW1. First service was as a Farrier-Sergeant S.N. 254 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Boer War. Second service was as a Private S.N. 6564 in the 26th Infantry Battalion AIF, WW1.
