When Duncan McDougall (alt. MacDougall) enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details wer published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. MacDougall, Brisbane. The Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, p. 190, notes he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. J. R. McDougall, Brisbane.

He also served in WW1, S.N. 936 Private, 41st Infantry Battalion AIF. When he enlisted in Dec 1914 he noted on his Attestation Paper he was 34 yrs 3 monts old; married to Martha Jane McDougall; working as a motorman; and noted his previous service in the Boer War.

Duncan McDougall was born in 1878 in Renfrewshire, Scotland, a son to Duncan McDougall and Jane McDougall (nee Ramsay). He married Martha Jane Thompson on 1 Jul 1905 in Queensland and they had 1 child.
