When John Alexander McIntosh enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Miss M. McIntosh, Bank St, West End. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 87, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his sister Miss M. McIntosh, Bank St, West End.
John Alexander McIntosh was born on 24 Nov 1870 at Brisbane, a son to Robert McIntosh and Margaret Turner McIntosh (nee Hope).
