Frederick Joseph McLaughlin was born on 14 Jun 1881 in Queensland, a son to Joseph McLaughlin and Agnes Mary Ann McLaughlin (nee Brown). When he enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as J. McLaughlin at Mount Morgan, Qld. He married Caroline Gleeson on 26 Jun 1912 at Rockhampton and they had 2 children.
