When James Graham Miers enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. A. Miers, Hmilton. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 2 p. 127, it is noted part of his pay was directed to a joint account held with A. M. Miers.

James Graham Miers was born on 12 Sep 1880 in Queensland, a son to Thomas Adam Clarke Miers and Annie Maria Miers (nee Graham).
