When Phillip Milne enlsited in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. J. Milne, Roma. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 66, it notes he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. M. Johnson Milne, Roma.
He was born Phillip Healy Milne on 1 Jun 1878 at Roma, Qld, a son to William Johnston Milne and Margaret Russell Healy Milne (nee Tomlin). He married Elizabeth Schaumburg (Schomberg) on 26 Dec 1906 in Queensland and they had 5 children.
When he enlisted for WW2 (home front) on 19 Apr 1942 he noted on his Attestation Form that; he was born at Roma on 15 Jun 1878 and aged 63 years; he was a widower, shearer and living at Millmerran, his N.O.K. was his son Allan Little Milne; and he had previously served in the South African (Boer) War in the 6th QIB.
