Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Hugh Patrick Mullen enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his brother J. Mullen, Arnold St, Manly.
He also enlisted again in 1915 to serve with the Military Police during WW1, lowering his age, but was discharged shortly after as medically unfit. On his Attestation Form, dated 17 Nov 1915, he noted that; he was born in Brisbane and was 38 years 5 months of age; he was married and working as a saddler; his N.O.K. was his wife Margaret Mullen, Mt Joy Terrace, Manly; and he had previously served in the 5th QIB in the Boer War.
Hugh Patrick Mullen was born on 20 Jun 1871 at Brisbane, a son to George Mullen and Mary Mullen (nee McDonnell). He married Margaret Gross on 18 Dec 1915 in Queensland and they were last living at Wynnum, Brisbane, when he passed in 1946.

He was for some time attached to the Royal Australian Artillery at Thursday Island before joining the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. In his young days he was a keen footballer and athlete. His funeral to the Bulimba Cemetery was attended by several of his old colleagues.
