Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Christian Nelson enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as M. Nelson, Bethania Junction. In the original Nominal Roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, it is recorded that his N.O.K. was his father.
It is noted that he and his father are recorded under the surname of Neilson in the Boer War Service Paybooks of the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 143. Given Bethania was a settlement in the Logan area primarily established by German migrants in 1860s, it may reflect in the spelling of his surname.
